The St. Johns Red Wings boys golf team captured their second straight MHSAA Division 2 Championship Saturday, June 10 at GVSU’s The Meadows course. Their 36 hole total over the two days of competition was 603, beating runner-up Flint Powers by 24 strokes. Zach Rosendale earned overall medalist honors with a 142 total on rounds of 72-70, while teammate Eric Nunn tied for third at 147. It was a fitting ending to the 37 year golf coaching career of Paul Sternburgh who had announced his retirement from St. Johns this spring.

Tony Fuentes of East Lansing was second in the individual standings with round of 69-77 for a 146 total, four shots behind medalist Rosendale as the Trojans were tied for 6th overall at 648. Brendan Kahl of DeWitt tied for 8th with a score of 81-72-153.

Lansing Catholic finished 6th in the team standings with a score of 330-347-677. Zach Pier of Portland tied for 3rd individually with a score of 78-75-153. Peter Kramer of Lansing Catholic was 10th individually with a score of 82-75-157.
