Justin Scavarda of Mason captured first place in both the shot put and discuss to lead the Mason boys to a runner-up finish at the MHSAA Track & Field Finals held June 3-4 at Zeeland HS. Scavarda won the shot with a an effort of 57 feet, 10-1/2 inches and took first place n the discuss with a throw of 182 feet 6 inches. Coupled with a first place in the pole vault by Jarrett VanHavel (15-3), Mason totaled 44 team points to finish second behind champion Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.
