As the 2014-15 school year is set to begin, the Capital Area Activities Conference will have a new look in its athletic competition. With the departure of seven previous members, the CAAC will operate with 20 schools this season with a three-division alignment, a major change from the four division alignment of previous years. The new three division alignment for all sports (gymnastics, cheer, hockey and bowling being the exceptions) are as follows:
Blue Division
East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Holt, Jackson, Lansing Eastern, Lansing Everett, Lansing Sexton, Okemos
Red Division
Dewitt, Haslett, Mason, Owosso, St. Johns, Waverly
White Division
Eaton Rapids, Fowlerville, Ionia, Lansing Catholic Central, Portland, Williamston
We will also welcome some new athletic director and coaches this year, and commence a year-long effort to change the CAAC Web site content including historical information, more up to date conference news and standings, conference tournament results and key matchups.
We hope to try some new initiatives as well in student leadership and coaches education, and perhaps improve on existing programs and in general move the CAAC forward. A good example of this was the great involvement by Athletic Directors and students in the MHSAA Baseball/Softball Finals this past June that moved to the MSU campus with good success.
