The 2021-22 school year was a return to some degree of normalcy for CAAC member schools, its students and athletic programs. And with the spotlight deservedly on athletes and their achievements, our league pays tribute to the unsung heroes of schools sports, the athletic administrators who manage the day to day chores of scheduling, event management, MHSAA compliance, facility coordination and much, much more. Always the first to arrive and last to leave, remaining in the background, advocating for kids and coaches, school and community, they deserve or respect and gratitude.
Pictured here at the 2022 CAAC Senior Scholar Athlete awards night, are the 2022 athletic directors at the 19 CAAC member schools. God bless’em!
At the start of the 2021-22 school year we welcomed new AD’s Tempie Brown at Okemos, Gabe Murley at Everett, Anthony Brandon at Sexton, Ken Hintze at Lansing Catholic and Connor Thomas at Mason, and just prior Jey Zubal at Eaton Rapids and Paige Paulsen at Williamston. New faces, new energy, same values, same dedication.
We also bid farewell to Greg Lattig of Mason who moved on to LCC in September, and in June we’ll say good bye and good luck to the retiring Chris Ervin of St. Johns and Renee Sadler of Holt. May their future be all green lights and fairways!
And appreciation to CAAC Commissioner Tom Hunt, the former AD at East Lansing who captains the ship of state for the CAAC with poise and purpose.
As the chairman would say, “It was a very good year”. Indeed, and many more to come for the CAAC.
